Dr. Lorin A. Neuman-Lee, Associate Professor of Physiology at Arkansas State University, is the recipient of the 2026 Meritorious Teaching Award in Herpetology, recognized for teaching that spans Girl Scout outreach to graduate mentorship and for a philosophy grounded in empathy and high expectations. Beyond her classroom, she has revitalized The Herpetologists’ League’s DEI Committee, built a mentoring program linking over 30 students across 12 countries, and turned a single class field trip into an ongoing research partnership with the Memphis Zoo. Colleagues and students praise her for shaping not just talented scientists but, as one put it, “good human beings who recognize their ability to contribute to our community.” Congratulations to Lori on receiving this well-deserved award!
