The American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS) is an organization dedicated to the use of science to inform decision making for the benefit of science and society in the U.S. It is made up of ~100 member organizations, including SSAR. Staff members work to achieve AIBS’ mission by publishing the peer-reviewed journal BioScience, by providing scientific peer review and advisory services to a wide variety of research organizations, and by collaborating with scientists, students, and institutions to advance public policy, education, and the public understanding of science. For more information, please see their website: https://www.aibs.org/
In April 2025, SSAR invited AIBS to host an information session for SSAR, ASIH, and HL members on AIBS’ mission and activities, its relationship with scientific professional societies (including ours), its policy and advocacy initiatives, and avenues for engaging with Congress. They provided information, resources, and ways to stay informed. We hope that you find these links useful!
